The Ontario government recently expanded eligibility for booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. All patient-facing regulated health care professionals/workers, including RDTs and their staff providing in-person care; and who received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago are eligible for a booster dose. Click here for more details.
The intent of a booster dose is to restore protection that may have decreased over time. All booster doses will be mRNA vaccines, either Pfizer of Moderna, unless contraindicated.
Beginning November 6, 2021, eligible individuals can book their booster dose through:
- The online provincial portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900;
- Local public health unit (if unit uses their own booking system);
- Select pharmacies;
- Indigenous-led vaccination clinics (First Nation, Inuit and Metis populations); and/or
- Some primary care practices.
CDTO strongly encourages COVID-19 vaccinations for RDTs. All requirements for practicing dental technology during the pandemic remain in place, including following the College’s COVID-19: Guidance for Registered Dental Technologists and Infection Prevention and Control Standard.
