The provincial government has extended the emergency order that requires the closure of non-essential workplaces until June 2. While there is no set date for the return of practice, the College is working on general principles and guidance to support Members in preparing for this day.

Protecting the health and wellbeing of the public is our top priority. RDTs should continue to adhere to Directive #2 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health and avoid providing non-emergency services until notified by the College.

We know that navigating the COVID-19 pandemic has been tough for both businesses and individuals. In order to ensure safe return to work measures, the College has been actively engaged with the Ministry of Health, regulatory health colleges in Ontario, particularly Ontario oral health regulators and the associations, and the Canadian Alliance of Dental Technology Regulators.

A document will be released next week that will provide guidance to Members in areas such as:

  • Lab configuration and physical distancing measures,
  • Personal protective equipment, and
  • COVID-19 screening for staff and visitors.

This guidance document is a roadmap and not a calendar. It will help you prepare for when the Government gives health care professionals the green light to return-to-practice.

As the direction continues to change, we will keep you informed. We encourage you to correspond with us. Please send your questions to QA@cdto.ca.

We appreciate the efforts Members have made to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. We will continue to release information as it becomes available.
