The Ontario government announced this afternoon that Toronto and Peel would be placed into the “lockdown” category starting Monday, November 23rd at 12:01 a.m. As per Ontario’s new colour-coded COVID-19 response framework, “lockdown” is grey and is the level with the highest public health measures.
Organized gatherings and social events indoors will be prohibited and the gathering limit for outdoor events reduced from 25 to 10. In-person shopping will be also prohibited with the exception of essential retailers. A full list of the “lockdown” restrictions can be viewed here. It is also important to visit the websites of each region (Toronto and Peel) as further restrictions may be imposed.
At this time, there have not been restrictions placed on the provision of healthcare. We will monitor the situation closely and provide updates as soon as available. RDTs should also stay informed of the colour and restrictions of their region by visiting the Government of Ontario’s website frequently. Be mindful that municipalities and local medical officers of health may have additional restrictions or targeted requirements in their region. We all have a responsibility to limit the spread of COVID-19.
