The College requires registrants to include all three mandatory RDT identifiers on the documents specified in the Laboratory Supervision Standard.
The College has observed that some registrants are using the abbreviation “RDT” instead of writing out their full professional title. To meet the requirements of the Standard, the professional title must be written in full as:
Registered Dental Technologist
The abbreviation “RDT” on its own does not satisfy this requirement and may not be familiar to everyone. Writing out the full professional title clearly communicates the registrant’s qualifications and regulated professional status.
Using all three required identifiers, including the full professional title Registered Dental Technologist, supports transparency. It also helps patients, employers, other dental professionals and members of the public identify the Registered Dental Technologist responsible for supervising the laboratory and recognize their regulated professional status.
RDTs are reminded to review the documents specified in the Laboratory Supervision Standard, including invoices, to confirm that:
- all three mandatory RDT identifiers are clearly displayed; and
- the professional title Registered Dental Technologist is written in full.
