How to Become a Registered Dental Technologist in Ontario

To practice in the province of Ontario as a dental technologist, you must be registered with the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario (CDTO). The College’s application process is designed to ensure a fair and transparent assessment of the qualifications and competency of all applicants.

ROUTES OF ENTRY

I am a first-time applicant from an approved Dental Technology program in Canada

I am a first-time applicant and graduated from a non-approved dental health program outside of Canada

I am a first-time applicant and graduated from a non-approved dental health program in Canada

I am registered in another province in Canada as an RDT, DT or TPAD

I have on-the-job experience in dental technology and want to take the next step toward becoming a licensed professional.

Friday, June 27, 2025 – Registration is closed.
Friday, November 21, 2025 – Registration is now open, deadline is 10 days before administration date.

Performance Based Assessment (PBA)

Registration is now open for the Saturday, October 25, 2025
