Jurisprudence and Ethics Exam
This is a one-and-a-half (1.5) hour open book written examination that tests candidates’ knowledge of current legislation and ethics that govern the practice of dental technology in Ontario. A candidate must obtain a minimum score of 60% to pass the Jurisprudence & Ethics Examination. Refer to the Jurisprudence & Ethics Handbook for more details about the examination.
The examination includes sixty (60) multiple choice questions based on The Guide to Dental Technology Practice (“The Guide”) and is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of the current legislation that governs the profession of dental technology in Ontario.
Each multiple-choice question contains four (4) choices. Candidates must select the single best answer.

Candidates are now able to access the PDF version of “The Guide” during the virtually proctored Jurisprudence and Ethics exam. Candidates are only allowed to have a second monitor that is directly connected to the device they will be taking the virtually proctored Jurisprudence and Ethics exam.
- The Jurisprudence and Ethics Examination is offered four (4) times a year. The application deadline is 30 days before scheduled examination date.
- The College will endeavor to register all candidates for the examination. However, if capacity is reached candidates may be re-scheduled for the next available exam date. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
