Jurisprudence and Ethics Exam
This is a one-and-a-half (1.5) hour open book written examination that tests candidates’ knowledge of current legislation and ethics that govern the practice of dental technology in Ontario. A candidate must obtain a minimum score of 60% to pass the Jurisprudence & Ethics Examination.
The examination includes sixty (60) multiple choice questions based on The Guide to Dental Technology Practice (“The Guide”) and is designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of the current legislation that governs the profession of dental technology in Ontario.
Each multiple-choice question contains four (4) choices. Candidates must select the single best answer.
Jurisprudence & Ethics Examination has moved online!
The examination will be virtually proctored allowing candidates to take the exam in the comfort of their own home or at a location of their choosing. The process is monitored from start to finish by a live proctor, the session is recorded and cheating is red flagged for CDTO review.

REMINDERS
- Candidates are responsible for bringing their own printed copy of “The Guide” for this open book examination. Candidates are not permitted to access The Guide electronically during the virtually proctored examination. You will require a printed copy should you need to refer to it during the exam.
- The Jurisprudence and Ethics Examination is offered four (4) times a year. The application deadline is 30 days before scheduled examination date.
- The College will endeavor to register all candidates for the examination. However, if capacity is reached candidates may be re-scheduled for the next available exam date. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
