On May 26, the College received a memo from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, regarding the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 (AZ)/COVISHIELD vaccine. Click here to read the Memorandum.
Patients in Ontario can choose to have the second dose 12 weeks after they received the first dose or wait to determine which vaccine they may receive at a later date, when more data is available on the mixed vaccine series (e.g., having a first dose of AZ and a second dose of one of the mRNA vaccines). Please evaluate the benefits and risks of each choice, supported by a discussion with a health care provider.
The CDTO strongly encourages all dental technologists to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the earliest available opportunity. It is very important to receive both doses to complete your vaccine.
