Call for PLAR Mentor
The Canadian Alliance of Dental Technology Regulators (CADTR) is piloting a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) pathway and seeks experienced Dental Technology professionals to serve as PLAR Mentors. Mentors provide non-evaluative guidance to applicants on organizing portfolio evidence and understanding requirements. Orientation and resources are provided; participation may be eligible for CE.
Eligibility
- RDTs/Technicians in good standing (or retired ≤3 years, with no disciplinary history).
- Not currently engaged by CADTR/CAS in credentialing or competency assessment (e.g., PBA markers, credential assessors).

Call for Evaluators
The Canadian Alliance of Dental Technology Regulators (CADTR) is piloting a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) pathway and seeks experienced Dental Technology Subject Matter Experts to serve as PLAR Evaluators. Evaluators are trained, compensated assessors who review applicant portfolios against national entry-to-practice competencies using structured rubrics and calibration practices. Orientation and tools are provided; participation is eligible for CE recognition.
Eligibility
- Registered Dental Technologists/Technicians (RDT/DT) in good standing, in a class permitting independent/unrestricted practice.
- Selected cohort will reflect geographic and practice diversity (education, lab operations, international scope, preceptor roles).
- Assets: 5+ years current practice; familiarity with CADTR’s National Essential Entry-to-Practice Competencies; commitment to public protection; prior assessment experience.
- Conflict-free: no current involvement with your regulator’s registration/discipline committees; no current/planned for-profit exam prep course delivery.

Project window: February–June 30, 2026 (online/remote)

Time: ~21–25 hours/month (≈126–150 hours total), including training, portfolio reviews, calibration, reporting, and meetings

Remuneration & recognition: CAD $2,500–$3,000; participation letter (for CE) and certificate for educational activities
Evaluator Role

Complete orientation/training on PLAR tools, processes, and procedures

Review and assess applicant portfolios and supporting evidence against established competencies

Apply structured scoring rubrics consistently; participate in peer calibration/consensus discussions

Finalize outcome reports; attend periodic project meetings; provide feedback on the pilot
